SUMMARY:Accessibility Review Journey in Belgium by Uit met Autisme
DESCRIPTION:11-17 June 2026 | Belgium | CEST / Brussels time \nLanguage: Dutch \nA Day Trip Starts at Home is an accessibility-focused review journey by Stichting Uit met Autisme\, taking place during Neurodiversity Pride Week. The initiative highlights why clear information before a visit is not a luxury for autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors\, but often a condition for being able to take part independently. \nFor many people\, a day out begins at the entrance of a museum\, animal park\, attraction\, hotel or leisure location. For autistic people and people who are sensitive to sensory input\, the experience often begins much earlier: at home\, while trying to understand what the visit will be like. \nQuestions such as “How busy will it be?”\, “Will there be queues?”\, “Is there a lot of noise?”\, “Are there bright lights?”\, “Is there a quiet place?”\, “Where are the toilets?”\, “How clear is the signage?”\, and “Can I find reliable information beforehand?” can determine whether a visit feels possible\, stressful\, or impossible. \nDuring this review journey through Belgium\, Stichting Uit met Autisme will look at how leisure locations communicate accessibility\, sensory information and practical details before and during a visit. The focus is not only on what happens on site\, but also on how well visitors can prepare from home. \nThe foundation works with a structured audit approach\, looking at factors such as sound\, light\, crowds\, queues\, rest options\, signage\, hospitality\, toilets\, parking\, reception and pre-visit communication. The goal is not to shame locations\, but to make visible where information is missing and where reasonable changes could help more visitors participate independently. \nThis initiative connects strongly with Neurodiversity Pride Week because pride is also about access to everyday life. Neurodivergent people deserve to visit museums\, attractions\, parks and leisure spaces without having to guess whether an environment will be manageable. Clear information\, predictability and sensory-aware communication can make the difference between staying home and being able to take part. For information to join or support\, especially for the media\, visit the website of the UitMetAutisme foundation. \nPractical information\n\nInitiative: A Day Trip Starts at Home – Accessibility Review Journey\nDates: between 11 and 17 June 2026\nDuration: clustered review trip of approximately 3-4 days\nLocation: Belgium\, route still being assembled\nTime zone: CEST / Brussels time\nLanguage: Dutch\nOrganiser: Stichting Uit met Autisme\nFormat: accessibility review journey / audit visits / possible media walk-along moments\nAudience: autistic people\, sensory-sensitive visitors\, leisure locations\, museums\, attractions\, tourism professionals\, accessibility advocates and media\n\nWhat to expect\n\nA review journey through Belgian leisure locations during Neurodiversity Pride Week\nAttention to autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors’ needs before and during a visit\nStructured audits looking at up to 57 accessibility and sensory-related parameters\nFocus on clear pre-visit information\, predictability and independent participation\nPossible media walk-along moments during selected audits\nA practical conversation about how museums\, attractions\, animal parks and other locations can become more accessible\n\nThis initiative may be especially relevant for people interested in autism\, sensory accessibility\, tourism\, museums\, cultural participation\, leisure access\, visitor information\, family outings\, disability inclusion and the practical conditions that make participation possible. \nRead the article about the review journey here \nRead more about the Uit met Autisme ticket test here \nThis event has been suggested as a relevant contribution to the Neurodiversity Pride Week programme by the community and UitMetAutisme is a wellrespected partner. SUMMARY:NEURODIVERSITY PRIDE FOR JOB SEEKERS
DESCRIPTION:Job search is a process full of dread for many people\, especially neurodivergent ones.\n“Who will take me\, with my challenges?”\n“What if I get rejected?”\n“How can I fit in their job description?”\, etc. \nAnd what if…..you look at it differently? \nNot Them versus You\, but more two parties looking for a good fit.\nThey have a job to offer\, and you can offer abilities\, vision\, talents\, creativity\,….. the gifts of being neurodivergent. In exchange for which you need good working conditions to let those gifts blossom. \nI want to offer you a different way to approach a job search.\nWhere you are empowered to take as much control as possible in a process that puts you at the centre. To be authentic\, and to select jobs on that basis. Not by adapting too much and masking who you are. But by thoroughly preparing each step so you feel more confident. With a tool to do job research in a softer way before even applying. \nYes\, a job search is a lot of work\, it takes time and effort. And the reward can be a job where you feel good\, where you can contribute and develop. \nThis workshop will be offered this time in the afternoon\, and at a slightly later date\, in the evening.

SUMMARY:Rethinking Financial Wellbeing for Neurodivergent Adults
DESCRIPTION:🌈 Neurodiversity Pride Week 2026 \nRethinking Financial Wellbeing for Neurodivergent Adults\nLed by Emeka Ajogbe (Prosperiium) \n“You are not bad with money.” \nMany neurodivergent adults have spent years carrying stories about themselves that were never really true.\nThat they are irresponsible.\nThat they lack discipline.\nThat they cannot be trusted with finances. \nBut what if the issue was never a personal failing?\nWhat if financial challenges were shaped by executive functioning differences\, overwhelm\, burnout\, impulsivity\, people-pleasing\, inaccessible systems\, or years of navigating a world not designed for the way your brain works?\nAs part of Neurodiversity Pride Week\, this interactive workshop explores the relationship between money\, self-trust\, safety\, and identity.\nUsing anonymous polling and shared reflection\, we will explore experiences that many neurodivergent people carry privately: \n\nPretending to understand financial information when you didn’t.\nAvoiding money conversations because shame arrived first.\nSaying yes when you meant no.\nFeeling judged by systems that were never built with neurodivergent people in mind.\n\nTogether\, we will challenge common narratives and explore more compassionate alternatives: \n\n“I wasn’t bad with money. I was overwhelmed.”\n“That wasn’t irresponsibility. It may have been dysregulation\, executive overload\, or a system that didn’t fit.”\n“I didn’t fail at money management. I may never have been given tools that worked for me.”\n\nNeurodiversity Pride is about more than celebrating difference. It is about creating environments where neurodivergent people can thrive with dignity\, understanding\, and self-determination. \n📅 15 June 2026\n🕢 19:30 CEST\n📍 Online
