SUMMARY:Rethinking Financial Wellbeing for Neurodivergent Adults
DESCRIPTION:🌈 Neurodiversity Pride Week 2026 \nRethinking Financial Wellbeing for Neurodivergent Adults\nLed by Emeka Ajogbe (Prosperiium) \n“You are not bad with money.” \nMany neurodivergent adults have spent years carrying stories about themselves that were never really true.\nThat they are irresponsible.\nThat they lack discipline.\nThat they cannot be trusted with finances. \nBut what if the issue was never a personal failing?\nWhat if financial challenges were shaped by executive functioning differences\, overwhelm\, burnout\, impulsivity\, people-pleasing\, inaccessible systems\, or years of navigating a world not designed for the way your brain works?\nAs part of Neurodiversity Pride Week\, this interactive workshop explores the relationship between money\, self-trust\, safety\, and identity.\nUsing anonymous polling and shared reflection\, we will explore experiences that many neurodivergent people carry privately: \n\nPretending to understand financial information when you didn’t.\nAvoiding money conversations because shame arrived first.\nSaying yes when you meant no.\nFeeling judged by systems that were never built with neurodivergent people in mind.\n\nTogether\, we will challenge common narratives and explore more compassionate alternatives: \n\n“I wasn’t bad with money. I was overwhelmed.”\n“That wasn’t irresponsibility. It may have been dysregulation\, executive overload\, or a system that didn’t fit.”\n“I didn’t fail at money management. I may never have been given tools that worked for me.”\n\nNeurodiversity Pride is about more than celebrating difference. It is about creating environments where neurodivergent people can thrive with dignity\, understanding\, and self-determination. \n📅 15 June 2026\n🕢 19:30 CEST\n📍 Online

SUMMARY:NEURODIVERSITY PRIDE FOR JOB SEEKERS
DESCRIPTION:Job search is a process full of dread for many people\, especially neurodivergent ones.\n“Who will take me\, with my challenges?”\n“What if I get rejected?”\n“How can I fit in their job description?”\, etc. \nAnd what if…..you look at it differently? \nNot Them versus You\, but more two parties looking for a good fit.\nThey have a job to offer\, and you can offer abilities\, vision\, talents\, creativity\,….. the gifts of being neurodivergent. In exchange for which you need good working conditions to let those gifts blossom. \nI want to offer you a different way to approach a job search.\nWhere you are empowered to take as much control as possible in a process that puts you at the centre. To be authentic\, and to select jobs on that basis. Not by adapting too much and masking who you are. But by thoroughly preparing each step so you feel more confident. With a tool to do job research in a softer way before even applying. \nYes\, a job search is a lot of work\, it takes time and effort. And the reward can be a job where you feel good\, where you can contribute and develop. \nThis workshop will be offered this time in the afternoon\, and at a slightly later date\, in the evening.

SUMMARY:Neuroqueer Peer Support Circle: Reclaiming Space\, Selfhood & Belonging
DESCRIPTION:Neuroqueer Peer Support Circle: Reclaiming Space\, Selfhood & Belonging\nAs part of Neurodiversity Pride Week 2026\, NDB is relaunching our Neuroqueer Peer Support Circle\, an online peer-led space for neurodivergent people who are also queer\, trans\, non-binary\, gender-expansive\, questioning\, or exploring the intersections between neurodivergence\, identity\, gender\, sexuality\, embodiment\, and belonging.\n\nThe term neuroqueer\, associated with the work of Nick Walker and others\, invites us to question the norms that shape how we are expected to think\, communicate\, relate\, move\, express gender\, and exist in the world. It is not only an identity label\, but also a practice: a way of exploring and challenging the “shoulds” around both neurocognitive and gendered ways of being.\n\nThis circle is a space to return to that original spirit: curiosity\, fluidity\, mutual support\, creativity\, and self-definition.\n\nTogether\, we will explore questions such as:\n\n• What does it mean to be neuroqueer?\n• How do neurodivergence\, queerness\, gender\, masking\, safety\, and self-expression interact?\n• What parts of ourselves have we had to hide\, translate\, soften\, or explain?\n• What helps us feel safe enough to be more fully ourselves?\n• How can peer support create spaces of shared power\, belonging\, and care?\n\nThis is not a therapy group and there is no expectation to share. You are welcome to participate actively\, listen quietly\, reflect privately\, keep your camera off\, use chat\, or simply arrive as you are.\n\nOur aim is to co-create a space that is affirming\, anti-pathologising\, trauma-aware\, and rooted in peer connection. We are not here to fix anyone. We are here to explore\, witness\, relate\, and build spaces where messy\, brave\, playful\, questioning\, contradictory\, and whole selves can belong.\n\nDate: Sunday 14 June 2026\nTime: 19:00 CEST / GMT+2 – 13:00 EDT / 10:00 PDT\nLocation: NDB – Online\nFormat: Peer-led support circle\nHosted by: NDB Events team\nContact : events@neurodiversity.be\n\nRegistration required to receive the Teams Link

SUMMARY:When hormones meet neurodivergence - A story of sensitivity\, intensity and hormonal plot twists from puberty to menopause
DESCRIPTION:Hormonal shifts can feel more intense for many neurodivergent women. \nHormonal changes are often discussed in relation to puberty\, menstrual cycles\, perimenopause and menopause. Neurodivergence is often discussed in terms of cognition\, emotion\, sensory processing\, masking and navigating environments that were not designed for neurodivergent people. \nBut for many neurodivergent women\, these experiences are deeply interconnected. Hormonal changes can affect mood\, focus\, sleep\, sensory sensitivity\, emotional regulation and nervous system stability – the same areas that may already be more sensitive in neurodivergence. \nThis practical session will explore the hormonal life of neurodivergent women\, from puberty to menopause\, bringing together perspectives from clinical psychology and functional medicine. \nTogether\, we’ll explore why hormonal changes can feel amplified\, including: \n\nPhysical factors – hormone fluctuations\, brain chemistry\, nervous system regulation\, sleep\, sensory sensitivity\, stress physiology\, digestion and energy\nPsycho-social factors – late diagnosis\, masking\, identity\, emotional regulation\, self-understanding\, relationships\, work\, overwhelm and the impact of not knowing you were neurodivergent earlier in life\n\nWe’ll also look at what can help: \n\nUnderstanding personal patterns across hormonal phases and life stages\nSupporting emotional regulation\, self-compassion and communication\nReducing sensory\, cognitive and emotional load where possible\nSupporting sleep\, nourishment\, nervous system regulation and overall capacity\n\nThe session will combine accessible science\, clinical experience and practical strategies throughout\, while acknowledging the complexity and individuality of neurodivergent women’s experiences. Expect an integrated and neurodiversity-affirming discussion focused on making sense of patterns\, reducing shame and exploring supportive approaches across both the mind and body. \n  \nPresented by Sally Mounir and Scotti McLaren – in collaboration with Neurodiversity Belgium \nSally is a licensed psychotherapist and registered member of the International Council of Psychotherapists in the UK. Her work is shaped by a multicultural background and a strong commitment to creating a safe\, respectful and non-judgemental space for clients. She takes a personalised\, holistic approach\, supporting people to better understand themselves and build practical tools for emotional wellbeing\, self-trust and growth. \nScotti is a Geneva-based functional medicine practitioner with a clinical focus on neurodivergence and women’s hormonal health. Her academic and clinical training spans neuroscience\, psychology\, nutritional science\, personalised nutrition and functional medicine. Known for her investigative approach\, Scotti connects systemic and cellular insights with everyday experience\, helping make sense of complex patterns in women’s brain\, body and hormonal health.

SUMMARY:Every Brain Is Beautiful: Neurodiversity\, Equity & Belonging at Work
DESCRIPTION:As part of Neurodiversity Pride 2026\, Neurodiversity Belgium invites you to an online presentation exploring what neurodiversity means in real life especially in workplaces\, teams\, and everyday systems.\n\nThis session moves beyond basic awareness and asks a more practical question:\n\nWhat changes when we stop seeing neurodivergent people as problems to manage\, and start looking at the environments that create unnecessary barriers to equity\, participation\, and belonging?\n\nDrawing on lived experience\, workplace examples\, and evidence-informed thinking\, this presentation will explore:\n\n• what neurodiversity means beyond labels\n• why “talent\, not defect” matters\n• how communication\, flexibility\, predictability\, and psychological safety shape participation\n• why inclusion is not just about individual accommodations\, but about better design for everyone\n• how workplaces can move from goodwill to meaningful structural change\n\nThis session is designed for anyone interested in neurodiversity\, equity\, inclusion\, leadership\, workplace culture\, advocacy\, and creating environments where different brains can genuinely belong.\nThis webinar will be delivered in English\, with French subtitles available.\n\nOnline event \nHosted by: Swiss Pride Team and NDB in collaboration with Neurodiverse Brains in the Workplace\nContact: events@neurodiversity.be\n\nRegister here: https://neurodiversity.be/events/every-brain-is-beautiful-neurodiversity-equity-belonging-at-work-12-june/\n\nFollow us on LinkedIn:\n(NDB) Neurodiversity Belgium\nNeurodiverse Brains in the Workplace\nNeurodiverse Brains in the Workplace Version française courte — flyer / réseaux sociaux\nEvery Brain Is Beautiful : neurodiversité\, équité et appartenance au travail\nChaque cerveau est beau : neurodiversité\, équité et appartenance au travail\nDans le cadre de la Neurodiversity Pride 2026\, Neurodiversity Belgium propose une présentation en ligne sur ce que signifie la neurodiversité dans la vie réelle — notamment dans les milieux professionnels\, les équipes\, la communication\, le leadership et les systèmes du quotidien.\nCette session invite à dépasser la simple sensibilisation pour poser une question essentielle : que changeons-nous lorsque nous cessons de vouloir « réparer » les personnes neurodivergentes\, et que nous commençons plutôt à concevoir des environnements plus équitables\, où différents cerveaux peuvent participer\, contribuer et appartenir pleinement ? Ce webinaire sera proposé en anglais\, avec des sous-titres en français. \nOrganisé par Neurodiversity Belgium\nEn collaboration avec Neurodiverse Brains in the Workplace\nÉvénement en ligne — plus d’informations à venir.

SUMMARY:ND in the body - The current research on neurodivergence & physical health
DESCRIPTION:What if neurodivergence is as much about the body as it is about the brain? \nFor decades\, neurodivergence has largely been discussed through the lens of behaviour\, cognition and mental health. But emerging research is increasingly exploring whether many neurodivergent experiences may also involve differences in whole-body regulation – including the nervous system\, immune system\, hormones and connective tissue. \nThis session will explore what current research says\, where the evidence is strongest\, and which areas remain emerging and debated. \nResearch areas we’ll explore: \n– Nervous system regulation – autonomic function\, sensory processing\, stress physiology and POTS\n– Immune system signalling – inflammation\, histamine\, mast cells and neuroimmune communication\n– Hormones and neuroendocrinology – PMS\, PMDD\, peri/menopause and hormonal sensitivity in ND people\n– Connective tissue and hypermobility – EDS\, chronic pain\, proprioception and emerging overlap research \nWe’ll also explore: \n– Why burnout may be physical as well as psychological\n– Why symptoms often cluster across different body systems\n– Why many ND people spend years moving between medical specialties\n– What researchers still don’t fully understand \nExpect a science-focused but accessible session bridging neuroscience\, immunology\, endocrinology and systems biology\, with practical explanations and real-world context throughout. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of the emerging brain-body science of neurodivergence\, how different areas of research are beginning to connect and why many researchers are increasingly approaching ND through a more integrated lens. \n  \nPresented by Scotti McLaren\, Investigative Health – in collaboration with Neurodiversity Belgium \nScotti is a Geneva-based functional medicine practitioner. She specialises in brain and hormonal health\, with a focus on neurodivergence and menopause. \nHer academic background includes an MSc in Psychology & Neuroscience of Mental Health (King’s College London)\, a BSc in Nutritional Science (Middlesex University) and a diploma in Personalised Nutrition Practice (CNELM). \nKnown for her investigative approach\, Scotti uses functional medicine to connect systemic and cellular insights with everyday experience.

SUMMARY:Humour\, Neurodivergence and the Brain: Why Funny Minds Work Differently
DESCRIPTION:Why do so many neurodivergent people gravitate toward humour — and why are so many comedians\, improvisers\, writers and quick thinkers neurodivergent themselves? \nEmerging research suggests that humour may be deeply connected to many neurodivergent traits\, including pattern recognition\, divergent thinking\, emotional processing\, sensory sensitivity\, masking\, social navigation and nervous system regulation. \nThis interactive session explores the two-way relationship between humour and neurodivergence: how neurodivergent brains may process humour differently — and how humour itself can become a powerful tool for regulation\, connection\, resilience and survival. \nResearch areas we’ll explore: \n\nDivergent thinking\, creativity and unexpected associations\nPattern recognition\, rapid cognition and comedic timing\nDopamine\, novelty-seeking and ADHD humour styles\nMasking\, social adaptation and humour as communication\nNervous system regulation\, stress relief and laughter physiology\nHumour\, rejection sensitivity and emotional processing\nWhy humour can both support and hide burnout\nThe overlap between trauma responses\, hypervigilance and observational comedy\n\nWe’ll also explore: \n\nWhy many neurodivergent people use humour instinctively in difficult situations\nWhy quick wit can sometimes develop from social adaptation\nThe difference between connecting humour and defensive humour\nWhy some ND people feel “too much” and joke their way through it\nWhat current research supports — and where evidence is still emerging\n\nExpect a science-informed but highly interactive session blending neuroscience\, psychology\, lived experience and humour itself. Through discussion\, reflection and real-world examples\, we’ll explore why funny brains often work differently — and how humour can become both a coping strategy and a form of connection\, creativity and regulation. \nPresented by: \n \nJennifer Lara Clarke of Switzerland\, in collaboration with Neurodiversity Belgium (NDB) \nJennifer is a communications strategist\, coach\, facilitator and comedy storyteller who is deeply fascinated by why some of the funniest people also happen to have very busy nervous systems. \nWith a background spanning global communications\, leadership coaching and behaviour change\, Jennifer combines science\, humour and lived experience to create interactive sessions on neurodivergence\, resilience\, creativity and human connection. Her work explores how humour can function as a coping strategy\, communication tool\, nervous system regulator and survival skill — particularly for neurodivergent people navigating an overwhelming world. \nShe believes some brains don’t just think differently. They also joke differently. \nFormat:\nOnline event \nHosted by:\nSwiss Pride Team and Neurodiversity Belgium \nThis webinar will be delivered in English\, with French subtitles available. \nJennifer Lara Clarke: https://www.jennaclarke.com/\nContact: events@neurodiversity.be

SUMMARY:NeuroRespect now!
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to join the campaign of the ages to strengthen the mental health of Norwegians? \nThroughout the summer we will mobilize and collect 5\,000 signatures before the celebration in Oslo in the fall. Join the movement\, and go for mobilization and effort! \nOn Saturday\, June 6\, we will gather to celebrate the community and mark the kickoff for the petition “NeuroRespect Now!”. \nPeople are waking up and understanding that they are not the ones who should bear the shame. It is a health system that leaves knowledge dissemination to social media. \nADHD and autism are not that difficult to understand. It is more difficult to accept. Professional lag means that the most important thing is forgotten: ethical rules and international guidelines. The health service is not good enough and attitudes must be addressed. Serious professionals take people seriously and believe in patients when they talk about their most vulnerable. \nBelittling\, transgressive behavior and incitement are violations of patient rights. We need a real boost in competence. \nThis is how we strengthen the mental health of Norwegians! \nJoin the campaign. Sign and share the petition. \nWe hope to see you in Trondheim on June 6th and in Oslo this fall. 🧡🩷💚

SUMMARY:Youth Keynote - Emily Nicol
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to welcome Emily Nicol as the Youth Keynote speaker for Neurodiversity Pride Day 2025\, a celebration that highlights the voices\, talents\, and experiences of neurodivergent people worldwide. \nEmily Nicol is a passionate advocate for neurodiversity\, bringing both lived experience and deep personal insight to her work. Diagnosed with Dyspraxia\, Emily has developed a unique way of approaching challenges\, often seeing connections and solutions that might be missed by others. Her ability to think creatively and holistically has been a strength throughout her studies and her contributions to various projects. \nEmily’s journey through education wasn’t always easy. Like many neurodivergent people\, she faced barriers in traditional learning environments\, but she also found ways to adapt and thrive. She discovered that by advocating for the supports she needed—whether that meant structured schedules\, clear communication\, or quiet spaces for focused work—she could excel and bring her best self to every opportunity. \nIn her own words\, Emily believes that “diverse ways of thinking—whether in the workplace or in an academic environment—lead to stronger\, more innovative outcomes.” Her dedication to fostering inclusive spaces is evident not only in her work but also in her ongoing efforts to empower other neurodivergent individuals. She brings a thoughtful\, systems-oriented perspective to everything she does\, and her attention to detail has been a cornerstone of her success. \nEmily’s keynote will speak to the importance of embracing every individual’s strengths while recognizing that each of us may need different forms of support to fully thrive. Her message embodies the spirit of Neurodiversity Pride Day: a celebration of differences that enrich our communities and make us stronger together. \nWe’re grateful to Emily Nicol for sharing her story and for being an inspiring voice for young people navigating their own neurodiversity journeys. Her openness\, creativity\, and resilience remind us that inclusion is about more than just policies—it’s about creating spaces where every person feels seen\, supported\, and valued. \n\nOn this page\, we will share the link to the talk\, and add the embedded version. The talk will premiere on June 16th\, before this date\, there is no link or embedded version yet.

SUMMARY:Achievement unlocked: the role of video games in the neurodivergent life
DESCRIPTION:Experiencing life can be a complicated affair for neurodivergent people. Social environments may be too exhausting\, sensory overload too intense\, communication and other means of interaction with people too taxing. Thus\, many of us escape into the confines of our solitary special interests and activies through which we learn about the world around us. One of such activities is gaming. In my speech\, being a neurodivergent gamer myself\, I want to discuss various ways in which video games may influence and even enrich the life of a neurodivergent person\, teach them a variety of necessary everyday skills\, and even serve as a sort of therapy for them. \n\nTopic: ND Pride Day 2025 – Achievement unlocked: the role of video games in the neurodivergent life by Sviatosslav Piven (Ukraine)\nTime: Jun 16\, 2025 14:00 Amsterdam Timezone | 15:00 Kyiv Timezone.\nJoin Zoom Meeting: https://us05web.zoom.us/j/9086032868?pwd=RjhzdnNVWHRtVFErUEt1eUZ0QXhaZz09&omn=82730045800\nMeeting ID: 908 603 2868 | Passcode: Myp5cm\n\n
