SUMMARY:How to Join a Public Sector Committee (Neurodivergent Guide)
DESCRIPTION:The New Zealand Government needs people to serve on public sector boards and committees. We want to see more neurodivergent people applying and being appointed. These roles are paid according to the Cabinet Fees Framework and give us the chance to directly influence or make decisions\, putting Nothing About Us Without Us into practice. \nGetting onto your first public sector committee can be hard and take time. David\, Nicolina\, and Ollie will share their journeys\, what happens in the recruitment process\, and what it is really like to sit at the table. Then it will be open for participants to Ask Me Anything. We want neurodivergent people (like us) to feel confident putting their names forward for public sector committee roles. \n  \nDr Nicolina Newcombe (IHC) is Autistic with OCD. She currently serves on the Southern Health and Disability Ethics Committee and Fire and Emergency Local Area Committee. She has experience on the Oranga Tamariki Disability Advisory Group\, minute taking for the Enabling Good Lives Waikato Leadership Group\, and was appointed to the Lotteries Individuals with Disabilities Committee but had to turn it down due to her busy schedule. \nDavid Corner ONZM (IHC) is Autistic with intellectual disability. He currently serves on the Ombudsman Disability Advisory Group and was part of the Whaikaha Disability Employment Strategy Working Group. \nOllie Goulden (My Life My Voice) is ADHD with an unfolding journey into neurodivergent diagnoses. He also has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair. He currently serves on the National Enabling Good Lives Leadership Group.
