Rethinking Love: Why It Feels So Intense (Neurodivergence, Attachment & Romantic Patterns)
Love is often explained using simple ideas like attachment styles or communication patterns. But for many people, especially those who are neurodivergent, these explanations don’t fully capture what relationships actually feel like.
Why does love feel intense, overwhelming, or confusing at times?
Why do some people attach quickly, pull away suddenly, or overthink every interaction?
And why does “healthy love” sometimes feel unfamiliar or even unsafe?
This session offers a different way of understanding relationships, one that looks at how the brain, the nervous system, and lived experiences shape the way we connect.
Drawing from neuroscience, trauma-informed perspectives, and emerging frameworks such as the Neurodivergent Romantic Trajectories Model™ (NRTM) och Neurodivergent Attachment Theory (NAT), we will explore:
Why love can feel “too much” or difficult to navigate
How neurodivergence influences emotional intensity, connection, and communication
The difference between trauma-based patterns and neurodivergent ways of relating
How relationship patterns unfold over time, not just as fixed “attachment styles”
This is not a space for labels or diagnosis, but for understanding.
Whether you are neurodivergent, exploring your relationship patterns, or simply curious about how people experience love differently, this session invites you to see connection through a more compassionate and informed lens.
